About us

The Bilbies tells true animal stories: rescues, unlikely friendships and the science behind the way animals live. We look for the stories behind the viral clips: who the animal is, what really happened and what it says about the way we share the world with other species.

What we publish

Stories about dogs, cats and wild animals, told with sources: researchers, rescue organizations, veterinarians and the people who were there. Videos and photos belong to their creators, and we credit them in our stories.

How we work

• The animal is the protagonist. People appear as allies, witnesses or researchers, never as heroes who overshadow the animal.
• Checked facts. We separate what is documented from what is still a hypothesis, and we link our sources in the text.
• We name who is responsible. When a story involves abandonment, abuse, trafficking or environmental harm, we tell it honestly and say who caused it.
• What we do not publish: graphic violence against animals, or anything that promotes wildlife trafficking, trophy hunting or keeping wild animals as pets.

Who we are

The Bilbies is published by Libreros Media, a Colombian producer of Spanish-language animal stories behind Animales Queridos, Sra Bigotes and Notas de Mascotas. It is run by its founder, Ramiro Antonio Libreros Zabala.

Corrections

If you spot an error in one of our stories, write to animalistasdelmundo@gmail.com with the link and what needs fixing. We check it against the sources and, if you are right, we correct the text.
