The Bilbies
Editorial team
We are a small team from Colombia that has been telling animal stories for more than ten years. The Bilbies brings those stories to English-speaking readers. The three of us also make Notas de Mascotas, Sra Bigotes and Animales Queridos, in Spanish.

Ramiro Libreros
Co-founder and director- Favorites: wild animals, especially rhinos
- At home: two rescued dogs
- Writes about: science, animal welfare and history
Ramiro was an independent rescuer for years and worked with one of the first animal protection foundations in his city, until he realized you can also help from a screen: a well-told story reaches thousands of people and can change how they see an animal. In 2014 he founded Notas de Mascotas with Anyie. He is passionate about wild animals, especially rhinos. He likes to write about what science knows about animals, about their welfare and about the history we share with them: how animals have changed people’s lives and how our decisions change theirs. He lives with two rescued dogs.

Co-founder and story editor- Favorites: dogs
- At home: two rescued dogs
- Writes about: rescues, recovery and the people who make them possible
Anyie knows rescue from the inside: she worked with the same foundation before creating Notas de Mascotas with Ramiro. Her favorites are dogs, and two are waiting for her at home, both rescued. She mostly writes rescue and recovery stories, and in them she puts first the people who make them possible: rescuers and organizations that often work without anyone seeing it. She decides which stories we tell.

Writer and presenter- Favorites: cats
- At home: a little dog and a black cat
- Writes about: stories that leave a smile
Lorena joined in 2019 and since then she has written stories and articles and presented our videos. She lives with a little dog and a black cat, and although she loves all animals, cats have a special place for her. She has rescued animals on her own. She prefers stories that leave a smile, the ones that show the good that happens when a person and an animal find each other. Every day she learns something new about them and likes to share it so others can feel the same.

How a guide goes from a question to your screen.
- A real questionEvery guide starts with a question from a reader.
- Original sourcesWe look for the answer in studies and original veterinary sources, not in what other sites repeat.
- The decisions are oursWe use artificial intelligence tools to organize the material and write, always following the guidelines we wrote: what is said, what is left out and how it is explained.
- Every figure, checkedWe check every figure against its source and link those sources so you can read them.
- With our name on itEvery guide carries the name of a team member, and if you find an error, we fix it.
We are not veterinarians. Our health guides help you understand and decide when to see a vet, but they do not replace a visit to the vet. If you find an error, write to us at info@notasdemascotas.com and we will fix it.
