The Bilbies
Code of ethics
At The Bilbies we tell animal stories for people who love them. This code says what you can expect from us and what we do when we get something wrong.
We look for the truth
Every fact comes from a source we can show, and we link those sources so you can read them. We separate what science has shown from what is still a hypothesis. On health we rely on veterinary sources, and our guides do not replace a visit to the vet. How we do it: fact-checking.
We care for animals and people
The animal is at the center of every story. We do not celebrate hunting, trafficking or any form of exploitation, and when a person harms an animal we say so clearly, without graphic images. From the people in our stories we only use what they themselves made public. Every photo that is not ours carries the credit of whoever took or published it, and we remove it if its author asks.
We are independent
No advertiser decides what we publish or how we tell it. In our stories, a brand appears only if the story is about it, never as a recommendation. Brands can pay for posts on our Facebook pages: they are always labeled as advertising and follow these same rules. If a team member has a connection to a person or organization we write about, we say so in the text.
We say how we work
Behind every text there is a team member who signs it. We choose every story and write the guidelines all our texts follow: what to tell, with which sources, in what tone and what never to do. To research and write we rely on artificial intelligence tools that work with those guidelines. In some pieces we use illustrations made with artificial intelligence, and when we do, we say so in the article itself. Who we are and how we are funded: About us and Editorial team.
If we get it wrong, we fix it
If you find an error, write to us at info@notasdemascotas.com. How we do it: corrections policy.
